Produce Alliance adds company
Merchants Foodservice has become the newest member of Produce Alliance.
Produce Alliance, headquartered in Nashville, TN, is a management services group specializing in the procurement and distribution of fresh produce to the foodservice industry. With the addition of Merchants Foodservice, Produce Alliance now has 34 members with 37 distribution centers.
"Consistent quality, purchasing programs and the ability of Produce Alliance to acquire and service national and regional multi-unit chain accounts were the compelling reasons that drove us to join the alliance," Andy Mercier, president of Merchants Foodservice, said in a March 22 statement. "As a member of Produce Alliance, we can better achieve our goals."
Merchants Foodservice, known to most of its customers as Big M, has two state-of-the-art facilities, one in Jackson, MS, and the other in central Alabama, south of Birmingham. Merchant's Foodservice distribution area is Alabama, Mississippi, parts of Louisiana and the panhandle of Florida. "These centers will play a major role in our growth strategy," Joe Collier, partner and director of distribution and business development for Produce Alliance, said in the statement.
