Weis-Buy Farms aims to provide customers with the best produce at reasonable prices
There are many exciting things happening at Weis-Buy Farms this year, according to a company press release.
Florida fresh produce will be available from the company through the winter and into the spring.
Mature green tomatoes, vine-ripe tomatoes, grape tomatoes, squash, eggplant, cabbage, corn and green Bell peppers are the main items handled.
A strong start to the watermelon season is also anticipated although the company expects its mango deal to be late.
The produce business has changed and Weis-Buy has changed with the business, becoming more of an international produce merchant and incorporating that function into its brokerage business.
Weis-Buy Farms is a direct importer of Dominican Republic produce, primarily selling hothouse-grown premium red, yellow and orange peppers in its signature Tropical Jewels label.
Romas and round tomatoes will continue to arrive as long as pricing permits, according to the press release and the company will import specialty items to order for its customer base.
The produce is grown in the mountains to take advantage of the temperate climate and abundant water supply. Product is greenhouse-grown in modern, sanitized, state-of-the-art facilities.
During the spring and summer Weis-Buy Farm will be selling organic mini peppers and organic green Bell peppers shipping from central Florida. Product is shadehouse-grown using the highest standards, according to the press release. This farm will have organic red bell pepper in the fall.
In June and July, Weis-Buy will have its own watermelon program from Georgia. The company will be in volume for the July 4 holiday if weather permits.
On sales are Mark Weisinger, Michael Shapiro and Arthur Ellis. Chuck Weisinger is the owner of Weis-Buy Farm.
Weis-Buy continues to source all items for its customers seasonally, providing produce 12 months a year.
Growers and shippers of Mexican produce have a history of long relationships with Weis-Buy. Produce shipping from McAllen, TX, and Nogales, AZ, include Roma tomatoes, round tomatoes, pepper, carrots, squash, limes and onions.
According to the press release, Weis-Buy Farms will continue to find the best produce for reasonable prices, but will not sacrifice quality for price.
