SunFed to sponsor Burdsal and Mandel at Tour de Fresh 2016
As support continues to grow for the popular Tour de Fresh event, Rio Rico, AZ-based SunFed is announcing that the company will sponsor two of its own for the annual ride. Vice President of Marketing Brett Burdsal and Vice President of Operations Matt Mandel are joining the team for the 2016 ride from Napa Valley to Monterey, CA. Over the three-day challenge, July 26-28, the riders will cover more than 150 miles of ground on their way to the PMA Foodservice Conference.

“Tour de Fresh is truly a cause that we can get behind and support. The event aligns with our vision of helping to provide healthy food to the next generation and create a produce-passionate group of influencers,” Burdsal said in a press release. “Giving children access to healthier eating options at a young age will help them form great habits they can carry throughout their lives.”

Burdsal and Mandel are both first-time participants in the event and hope to rally more industry members to join the 2016 ride.
Presented by The California Giant Foundation, this program brings together all sides of the fresh produce industry for the four-day cycling event that raises funds to benefit the Let's Move Salad Bars to Schools campaign. Tour de Fresh has successfully placed more than 100 salad bars since its inception in 2014.
“There are opportunities to reach the younger generations at an earlier age and create more awareness around the versatility of produce and the health and flavor benefits available to all,” Mandel said. “Simply exposing them to different produce options informs them of the variety of different choices they have beyond traditional produce staples.”
