New Lineage Logistics facility opens its doors in Charleston
Lineage Logistics LLC, a warehousing and logistics company backed by Bay Grove, officially opened the doors on its state-of-the-art 180,000-square-foot cold storage distribution center in Charleston County, SC.
The new facility offers immediate access to the Port of Charleston and I-26, with regular rail service through Norfolk Southern.
“Charleston has it all — first-rate infrastructure, great access, a top ranked port and a skilled workforce,” Greg Lehmkuhl, president and chief executive officer of Lineage Logistics, said in a press release. “South Carolina’s numerous business advantages, in addition to the booming market, are helping Lineage to better service our export and import customers, as well as our domestic shipping partners. The feedback we’ve received to date is that our newest facility is opening in the right location at the right time.”
The new distribution center deploys the latest technology for energy conservation, product handling and high-capacity blast freezing. The facility is designed to provide customers a highly efficient solution for exporting products to foreign markets and expediting domestic access to imported products.
"South Carolina Ports Authority has worked diligently to expand our capacity for temperature-sensitive products, including investments in on-terminal capabilities and expansion of our refrigerated cargo infrastructure,” Jim Newsome, president and CEO of the South Carolina Ports Authority, added in the press release. “The addition of Lineage's cold storage facility provides Charleston with increased capabilities necessary to accommodate this growing cargo segment."
Services at the Charleston facility include rail and transload, freight consolidation, blast freezing, drayage, import-export and custom labeling and stamping. The 21-acre lot has 30 truck doors and four rail doors, as well as parking for 100 autos.
