Hunts Point Terminal Market veteran Angelo Porricelli dies at 94
Angelo E. Porricelli, a longtime resident of Yonkers, NY, and second-generation family member of Jerry Porricelli Produce, located on Hunts Point Terminal Market, died March 25. He was 94.
Born in the Bronx to the late Concetta and Ciro on Sept. 21, 1922, Mr. Porricelli started working in the produce business at an early age, and he worked at the family business well into his 90s.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Carmela Porricelli (Babe). He was the father of Ciro (Kathy), Angela Porricelli and JulieAnn (John) McEnery. Today his children all share in overseeing the company’s operations as third-generation family members.
Mr. Porricelli proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII, where he received his Purple Heart.
He loved spending time with his family and friends. Several years ago, Ciro Porricelli told The Produce News that even as his father was approaching age 90, he was still helping out in the office.

“It’s great to just sit and have a cup of coffee with Dad to talk about issues and problems,” Porricelli said at the time. “People who have done business with him over the years are just amazed at how active he still is. He is a wonderful mentor.”
Mr. Porricelli was the grandfather of Michael Porricelli, Brian Porricelli, Lisa Czifra, John McEnery, Christopher Porricelli, Kayla McEnery, Ryan Schaal and Ashley Fico, and great-grandfather of Alyssa, Joanna, Kaylie, Isabella, Aiden, Malin, Kirra, Ethan and Jacob. He was the brother of Anna (Vito) Rizzo and Mario (Sara) Porricelli. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his siblings Ralph, Jerry, Vincent, Josie and Mary.

The funeral Mass was held on Friday, April 1, at St. Barnabas Church of the Bronx, NY. Burial followed at Woodlawn Cemetery.
