C&S Wholesale Grocers to acquire Edsung Foodservice Co.
C&S Wholesale Grocers Inc. announced that its wholly owned subsidiary Hawaiian Housewares Ltd. has signed an asset purchase agreement to acquire the operations of Edsung Foodservice Co., located in Honolulu.
The sale is expected to close in April, at which point the Edsung business will be consolidated into the Hansen Distribution Group, a division of C&S, providing operational efficiencies, increased purchasing power and product breadth, and opportunities for continued growth.
Edsung was founded in 1946 by Sungdai Choi as a family-owned broadline foodservice distributor. Servicing all of Hawaii, the company specializes in bakery and restaurant supplies.
“Edsung and the Choi family have maintained a very loyal customer base with their high-service business model and strong customer partnerships,” Rick Cohen, C&S chairman and chief executive officer, said in a press release. “We are committed to maintaining Edsung’s distinctive ‘Service with Aloha’ as we welcome the employees and customers into the C&S family.”
