Maggie Bezart named director of marketing for Chilean association
Maggie Bezart, founder of Maggie Bezart Marketing Services in Aptos, CA, has been named director of marketing for the Chilean Avocado Importers Association, according to Phil Henry of Henry Avocado Corp. in Escondido, CA, and vice chairman of the association. She started Jan. 1.
"The Chilean industry has made a commitment to have a full-time marketing director," said Mr. Henry. Ms. Bezart "is, of course, very experienced and very knowledgeable in the produce business. She has experience in marketing and in sales, so she is a terrific & choice for the avocado industry."
Ms. Bezart began her produce career in the early 1980s with Prepared Products Co. She later worked with Frieda's Inc. in Los Angeles and then as vice president of marketing for Ocean Mist in Watsonville before starting her own marketing company in 2005.
Ms. Bezart told The Produce News that among her very early tasks will be communicating with the Chilean Avocado Importers Association's field merchandisers and getting their feedback, reviewing the agencies that the association is currently working with, looking at the programs which are running for the current season, and getting ready for next season.
The 2006-07 Chilean avocado season is currently in full swing, and shipments are expected to continue arriving in the United States well into February, according to Mr. Henry.
