With citrus veteran Stu Monaghan leading sales team, Seald Sweet poised to pursue growth opportunities
Seald Sweet International’s legacy stretches back over a century and is firmly grounded in Florida citrus, but today’s Seald Sweet is a diversified, year-round player in international citrus, grapes, apples and pears.
The company’s imported grape program is the latest big grower, increasing year over year and with an aggressive growth trajectory. Seald Sweet’s summer citrus program with international imports has also continued to grow annually for over 15 years since its inception in the U.S. market.
New on the scene, the company is excited to introduce its recent hire, Stu Monaghan, to the industry. Monaghan is a long-time veteran of the Florida and international citrus industry and he’s looking forward to branching out into other commodities.
“I am excited to be part of such a progressive company, the leadership at Seald Sweet has really worked hard at setting the company up for growth, not only for now but for three, five, ten years from now and beyond,” Monaghan said. “We have diversified our commodities and value as a supplier in a way that has everyone optimistic about our future here.”
Monaghan joined the company as sales director and is looking forward to new challenges. “My role at Seald Sweet will be to help our company grow our relationships, grow our sales and advance our position in the citrus, grape, apple and pear categories. Having been in citrus for the last 18 years, the challenge of learning about new commodities is exciting — the opportunity to be here with a strong sales team and a solid company like Seald Sweet is everything I could ask for in a new position.”
“Imagine being given a team of strong players at a company that’s established and has great relationships already existing and they just need somebody to help them grow the business to the next step,” Monaghan continued. “I couldn’t be happier. Everyone has been fantastic to work with and there’s a lot of cohesiveness on the team and with management. I really couldn’t ask for a better situation.”
Heading into SEPC Seald Sweet has tremendous momentum.
“SEPC is one of our favorite shows, the value of being there is immeasurable — it’s so highly attended by the retail and foodservice sector and it is such an intimate show,” said Director of Marketing Kim Flores. “You have good, quality face time with the attendees and it’s more of a relaxed type of event. People are geared to have fun and do business at the same time — that’s a beautiful crossroads. We’ve seen the growth in SEPC over the years and we’re all very excited to continue to be part of that organization. Our team will be well represented there with members from each of our key divisions, along with our CEO Mayda Sotomayor. We have good meetings lined up and we’re really looking forward to being there.”
