Red Sun Farms’ organic line a win-win for everyone
Red Sun Farms’ organic line a win-win for everyone
As of this spring, Red Sun Farms, headquartered in Kingsville, Ontario, will be producing organics at its Mexico, U.S. and Canadian facilities, providing it with a year-round organics program.
Jim DiMenna, owner, president and chief executive officer, told The Produce News that customers have expressed strong interest in the organics line. It is helping the company to attract new customers, who then are also introduced to the company’s conventional line of high-quality hydroponic vegetables.
Red Sun Farms’ new ‘Family Picnic Pak’ of grape tomatoes in a vintage American-themed retail pack.“Producing greenhouse organics is quite different than producing conventional product,” explained DiMenna. “Unlike organics, with conventional products we can predict what we will have in crop volume. But we’re getting better at organics all the time, and we’re committed to doing it the way we feel consumers want it.”
Red Sun Farms will have an extensive list of executive staff members at its booth, No. 704, at the Southern Exposure event on March 3-5 in Hollywood, FL, including Jamie Mastronardi, co-owner, and members of its sales and marketing teams.
The company will be showcasing its entire line of both conventional and organic items, and will feature its “Family Picnic Pak” of grape tomatoes in its newly designed vintage American-themed retail pack that contains two, 10-ounce packs.
Red Sun Farms has been member of SEPC since its inception and it has exhibited at every show. Members of the company’s staff have been active in SEPC for many years. Harold Paivarinta, director of sales, has served on the board of directors and now serves as chair of the education committee. Sabrina Pokomandy, marketing manager, is the co-chair of the Southern Roots Group. She also serves as a member on the Southern Exposure expo committee and on the marketing committee.
“Southern Exposure is one of the best managed events that we attend,” noted DiMenna. “Each supplier has the same space in which to exhibit. The maintained size of the show and its casual atmosphere provides us with the opportunity to spend a lot of time speaking with our customers. The event is very well organized.”
Red Sun Farms is a sponsor at Southern Exposure each year, and its staff members participate in all of the events hosted by the Council.
DiMenna also announced Red Sun Farms’ newest staff member.
“Leona Neill now heads up our packaging innovation department,” said DiMenna. “She will be based in our Kingsville office.”
The company continually expands its greenhouse acreage in all of its growing regions. And it has expanded its organic line to now include bell peppers.
