DeLallo Co.: New year promotes healthy eating habits for consumers
Eating healthier and losing weight is a common New Year’s resolution, and is why the start of the year is peak salad season.
That’s great news for the George DeLallo Co., headquartered in Pittsburgh. The company is known for being meticulous about the ingredients it uses in its extensive line of items, including in its SaladSavors line.
Giuliana Pozzuto, marketing director for the company, said the new year brings eating healthy to everyone’s mind.
“This begins with our in-store SaladSavors demos,” said Pozzuto. “We’ve found that demos are the best way to introduce the product and get people to try these awesome flavor combinations. Once they get a taste for our colorful gourmet toppings and realize how much is in each package, they are instant fans.”
Since its launch, SaladSavors has been a great success for the George DeLallo Co. Pozzuto said merchandizing means everything with these gourmet salad toppings, so displaying them in line with the refrigerated salad greens and dressings is key.
“We are super excited about our latest variety, a tangy combination of goat cheese, marinated beets and glazed pecans,” Pozzuto said. “Tangy SaladSavors launched this past fall and is hitting the shelves now. It is already one of our top flavors, but it’s not a surprise with beets trending as a superfood. Beets are a fiber-rich root with a myriad of nutrients and health benefits. And the flavor combo of creamy goat cheese with tangy beets and crunchy sweet pecans is out of this world. It’s straight from your favorite restaurant menu. It’s definitely my personal favorite.”
The company is enjoying direct feedback from consumers about SaladSavors. Pozzuto noted that much of that feedback, which has been very positive, is in response from demos done at the store level.
“The feedback is coming mostly from women, which is our key demographic,” she added. “Consumers love the convenience of SaladSavors and that they don’t have to buy salad toppings and ingredients in large individual bags that might go to waste.”
The company gets excited about its online presence with partner bloggers who help spread the word through social media like Facebook and Twitter. Customers are already finding more ways to use their favorite SaladSavors, including innovative creations such as topping pizzas, loading baked potatoes, setting off omelets and more.
“We are proud to announce that we passed the SQF Level 3 Certification once more,” said Pozzuto. “The SQF Program assesses safety and quality in food manufacturing. This Level 3 Certification is quite an honor, as it’s the highest level possible in food manufacturing. Food safety is a top priority for us at DeLallo.”
