CDC: Chipotle outbreak over
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention declared the E. coli outbreak that sickened more than 50 Chipotle customers is over.
The declaration means that the investigation is now closed, according to the CDC. The probe was unable to identify the specific ingredient responsible for the contamination that required hospitalization of 20 of the 53 affected people in nine states. No deaths were attributed to the outbreak.
It has been more than two months since any new illnesses linked to Chipotle have been reported, though the restaurant chain endured a norovirus outbreak that afflicted 140 people in Boston in December.
