Website launched for Organic Produce Summit
The Organic Produce Summit, which will be held in Monterey, CA, July 13-14, launched its website on Jan. 18 for the purpose of allowing exhibitors and attendees to register for the event.
The press releases and email blasts touting the event call it the only produce industry show “dedicated exclusively to the $11 billion organic fresh produce market.”
The Organic Trade Association is working in conjunction with the OPS in developing several educational sessions for the event, with keynote speakers expected to be announced in February. The list of sponsors include a who’s who in the fresh produce industry with firms such as Taylor Farms, Braga Fresh Family Farms, Tommorow’s Organic, Homegrown Organic Farms, Driscoll’s, Earthbound Farms, Caito, Foxy Organics, Four Seasons, AweSum Organics, Del Rey Avocado, Renaissance Foods, Calavo and Mastronardi/Sunset.
An email to the retail trade recently noted that “the Organic Produce Summit is the best place to network with industry leaders, educators and innovators in the fresh organic produce segment. You will learn from renowned industry professionals and see innovative new products by the industry’s leading producers.”
Day one of the event is devoted to registration, networking, show set-up and an opening reception. On day two, the morning will start with a series breakout sessions hosted by OTA as well a series of dynamic keynote addresses to be delivered in “TED Talk” format. Among the topics slated for discussion are:
* The current and future state of the organic fresh produce industry using data and analysis from a variety of market and consumer sources.
* The GRO Organic Program, a proposed research and promotion check-off program for organic.
* The upcoming generation of organic growers who are developing groundbreaking techniques in order to extend growing seasons and regions.
* The impact climate change will have on where and when organic fruits and vegetables are produced.
Following lunch, a trade show exhibit area featuring organic fresh produce producers and processors will open for all attendees.
Like many industry trade shows, qualified buyers are being enticed to participate with the offer of free registration. There are only a limited number of free spots so only qualified retail buyers will be served on a first come, first served basis. This will include all receptions, conference hour meals, exhibit pass and two nights stay at the Monterey Hyatt Hotel and Spa, where the event is being held.
