Worley & McCullough-Wada partnership remains strong
Crediting its relationship with Wada Farms Marketing Group for the steady holiday shipping pace, Worley & McCullough’s Erin Hatton, grower relations and food-safety officer, said the San Luis Valley operation is shipping year-round, and “everything looks really good for 2016.”
The longtime Colorado grower-shipper teamed up with Wada in 2012 for sales and marketing, and domestic sales of the spuds are handled by Wada while sales to Mexico are managed by Victoria Peters of the San Luis Valley office. Between 25 and 30 percent of the shed’s production goes to Mexico.
Michele Peterson, longtime San Luis Valley potato sales agent, is working with the Wada team on sales as well as quality control for the fifth-generation McCullough & Worley operation.
“We are planning upgrades to increase our efficiency this year,” Hatton said in early January. “We’re really excited about the changes coming.”
She added, “Supplies are very good, and so far we’ve been really pleased with the 2015-16 season.”
The company grows and ships russet Norkotahs, a variety Hatton said has worked well. “That’s where we’re sticking for now,” she said.
