ATS opens satellite office in Salinas Valley
Advanced Transportation Services, which has been in business for more than 31 years, has opened a satellite office in the Salinas Valley Jan. 4.
Robert Silva, vice president of sales for the firm and a partner in the company, said it was a natural to open an office in Salinas as he is lives in the area and a significant percentage of the loads arranged by this company originate from the region. “For the last two-and-a-half years, I have been commuting from my home in the Salinas Valley to our office in Visalia” in California’s San Joaquin Valley, he said. “Now, we have an office here as well and that should be a great advantage to our customers. As much business as we did here, it made sense. We have a huge customer base here.”
Working with Silva in the Salinas office is Ray Charles, who previously was also in the Visalia office. While most of the business is conducted by phone or email, Silva said having a physical presence in Salinas should help the company attract even more business. “We do expect to expand and add a few more people in this office over the next few months,” he said.
Visalia is the home office and is where founder and chief executive officer Mitch Kipp began the firm more than three decades ago.
“I started ATS in 1984 to provide transportation services to the fresh fruit and vegetable industry in California and have now expanded to all shipping areas in the United States,” is how he states it on the company website. “At ATS we pride ourselves on providing personalized, ethical service to all our carriers. We believe in teamwork, which starts inside our company and filters out to include each person with whom we come in contact. We treat your drivers with respect and kindness.”
The website also notes that ATS is affiliated with seven produce companies and eight coolers that generate more than $200 million in sales annually.
Silva said the company provides transportation services from throughout the west including California, Arizona, Texas, Oregon, Washington and Idaho shipping all over the United States and Canada.
