Rocky Produce launches new website, looks forward to year ahead
Detroit-based Rocky Produce launched a new, updated website at the beginning of the new year, according to Dominic Russo, buyer and sales associate for the company, located on the Detroit Produce Terminal Market.
Aside from the new website, Russo said the company is focused on maintaining its full line up of fruits and vegetables, driving each one of those items, and trying to maximize good markets.
“Business has been very strong,” Russo said. “We’ve had an excellent year and we’re looking forward to starting off another great year.”
Rocky Produce is currently in its Chilean fruit season, which Russo noted has been a good, strong market, and expected prices to come down some.
However, as far as vegetables are concerned, he said that weather out West has been keeping a lot of that in tight supply.
As for the state of the economy in Detroit, Russo said the city is doing well and there are many more projects in the works, which will be completed in the next couple of years.
“There’s plenty of restaurants and wine and dine around town which helps our business indirectly,” he said. “The retail business outside the city has been excellent — it’s a great combination of independent and chain store business. We’re always working hard to accommodate our customer’s needs.”
Of course, there are always new challenges that arise each and every day in the world of produce, but as Russo noted, the Rocky Produce team still finds enjoyment in what they do, and great success working together.
“Believe me, there are days when it’s tough, but if you look at the overall picture, we have a lot of fun,” he said.
“We’re always working for each other and helping each other — it’s great,” Russo added.
