NEPC names new president and board member
New England Produce Council Inc. announced the appointment of Anthony Sattler as NEPC president and Mark Jewell as a director on the NEPC board.
"NEPC greatly appreciates all the time and hard work that Bob McGowan (Northeast Produce Sales) has offered the council as the New England Produce Council Inc. president for multiple terms," the council said in a press release. "His commitment and dedication to the organization has been exceptional. The council anticipates Bob McGowan remaining involved as an advisor to the executive board."
Sattler, vice president of produce for C&S Wholesale Grocers Inc., will officially begin his role as president at the NEPC dinner meeting scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 12 at the Greater Boston Food Bank. He has been with the company for 19 years. Prior to his current position at C&S Wholesale Grocers Inc. he was a produce buyer, dairy category manager and senior director. His current responsibilities include sourcing and procurement of fresh produce for C&S Wholesale Grocers Inc.
Jewell, category manager produce for Hannaford Supermarkets, will also begin his role Jan. 12. He will be celebrating his 33rd year with Hannaford this coming May. Prior to his current position Jewell was a category manager for fresh deli, produce buyer, specialist lead – retail operations, store manager and meat buyer.
The NEPC Board is currently preparing for its annual Dinner Dance Gala, which will be held Saturday, Feb. 6 at the World Trade Center at the Seaport Hotel, Boston. This rock and roll-themed event proves be one of the best NEPC dinner dances with live entertainment, fine dining and great produce people.
The NEPC Board is also working diligently on the next NEPC Produce, Floral & Food Service Expo, which will be held Sept. 21-23 at the Ocean Edge Resort & Golf Club in Brewster, MA. “This will be a do not miss event,” NEPC Vice President Tom Murray, vice president of produce and floral for Roche Bros. Supermarkets, said in the release.
