Friend of Chile award goes to Michael Stack
PHILADELPHIA -- Pennsylvania Sen. Michael Stack was named the recipient of the annual Friend of Chile Award at a Nov. 16 luncheon at the Hyatt Hotel, here.
The luncheon was attended by nearly 200 industry members and was presented by the Chilean & American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Philadelphia. The hotel ballroom appropriately overlooked the Delaware River, which last season received more than 60 percent of the fresh Chilean fruit exported to the United States.
Sen. Stack represents the fifth district of Philadelphia, which includes northeast Philadelphia and also the Tioga Marine Fruit Terminal, the major Chilean fruit terminal within the city of Philadelphia.
A member of the Chilean & American Chamber of Commerce, Sen. Stack visited Chile earlier this year as part of the Pennsylvania Trade Mission. He has also hosted Chilean delegations visiting the United States.
Robert Blackburn, president of the chamber and executive deputy director of the Philadelphia Regional Port Authority, introduced Sen. Stack and Mariano Fern?ndez, who was named Chilean ambassador to the United States July 3. Mr. Blackburn praised the senator's work in actively supporting the port community.
