World Floral Expo slated for March 9-11 at Los Angeles Convention Center
The 2016 edition of the annual World Floral Expo returns to the Los Angeles Convention Center March 9-11, following its successful 2015 event held at the same location, according to a news release.
“The California cut flower industry is thrilled to have WFE again in California for a variety of reasons,” Michael LoBue, chief executive officer at California Association of Flower Growers & Shippers, said in a written statement. “CalFlowers’ members have already reserved 9,000 square feet of exhibit space that will be featured in a special American/Californian Pavilion. That is almost three times the space just for American-grown flowers than was on display during the 2015 event.”
Exhibitors at the 2015 World Floral Expo in Los Angeles met customers and talked business during the show’s three-day run.In addition, there will be country pavilions from each of the big four flower-growing countries — Ecuador, Colombia, Kenya and Ethiopia. Based on last year’s success, WFE organizers decided to move into another hall inside the LACC, enlarging available exhibit space from 50,000-square-feet to 150,000-square-feet in 2016, tripling the exhibit space.
“CalFlowers members are thrilled to exhibit with other world-class flower growers from around the globe who contribute to the U.S. markets,” said LoBue. “On display will be an unprecedented level of cooperation between the major U.S. floral industry stakeholders, including non-U.S. growers, to promote per capita flower consumption in the U.S. from its current place of 15th in the world to a much bigger market share.”
The show is expected to attract visitors from all segments of the floral industry, from buyers, event planners and florists to big retailers and everyone in between.
Also, workshops will be offered to attendees during the three-day expo where everyone can create their own flower designs under the professional supervision of a team of Dutch flower designers. Registration is free of charge and can be done online, according to a news release.
“Visitors to WFE will have the opportunity to see many more of California’s nearly 660 varieties of commercial cut flowers on display than if the event was held out of state or abroad,” LoBue said. “Plus, at the 2016 event we’re expecting a strong showing of flowers grown across the United States. Buyers of cut flowers and potted plants should not miss WFE in Los Angeles.”
