A new year, a new opportunity to bloom
A new year, a new opportunity to bloom
“The successful man will profit from his mistakes and try again in a different way.” — Dale Carnegie
Well, 2016 is here and we all have the opportunity to learn what we did right or wrong in 2015 and try again, possibly in a different way, to make this new year more successful. It simply requires reflection, analysis, open-mindedness, creativity and a teachable spirit.
In keeping with those requirements, our tradition in the January edition of Floral Marketing is to gather several professionals from the various sectors of the floral industry to share their reflections on 2015 and their outlooks for 2016. This year Brian Numainville from the Retail Feedback Group discusses consumer floral trends; J Schwanke gives an in-depth description of design trends; Jennifer Nelis from FNGLA describes the plant industry; Nick Fronduto writes about hardgoods; Kelvin Frye talks containers; Cindy Hanauer reviews the bouquet sector; Red Kennicott addresses the wholesale floral sector; Becky Roberts from PMA advises on priorities to boost your business; while Kasey Cronquist from CCFC and Christine Boldt from AFIF each present annual outlooks for their associations.
In this issue we also kick off the new show season with a preview of January’s Tropical Plant Industry Exhibition in Fort Lauderdale and March’s World Floral Expo in Los Angeles. Plus, we report on the unique way one California company will be supporting International Women’s Day and how another California grower donated a large amount of money from its October plant promotion.
So as you begin 2016, remember to profit from your mistakes and take advantage of the wisdom of others to perhaps try a different way, in order to bloom where you are planted.
See you next month when we’ll have on-the-scene coverage of TPIE.
