Ken Cavallaro missed by many in the produce industry
Kenneth (Ken) J. Cavallaro, who served as treasurer of John Cerasuolo Co. Inc., located at the New England Produce Center in Chelsea, MA, died suddenly Feb. 23, 2015.
Cavallaro, who lived with his family in Everett, MA, is survived by his wife, Deborah (LePore); son Kenneth J. Cavallaro Jr. and his wife Danielle of Merrimac, MA; and daughter Kara Rullo and her husband Marcello of Middleton.
Ken Cavallaro with his wife, Deborah.Cavallaro was the brother of Dominic (Skip) J. Cavallaro, Jr., of Revere. He serves as president of John Cerasuolo Co., and today he continues to oversee its operations along with his son, Skip Cavallaro III.
Ken Cavallaro is also survived by four grandchildren, Arianna, Miabella, Francesca and Massimo, who referred to him as “Pops.” He had seven nieces and nephews.
Cavallaro was known as a longtime Boston sports fan, especially of the Boston Celtics.
“Ken had a tremendous impact on the Boston produce industry,” said Skip Cavallaro. “He was highly educated and very smart. When he put his head to something it was done right, and he always got the job done.”
Ken Cavallaro started working in the sales office in 1976. When their father, Dominic, now deceased, retired from the company, Ken worked on the floor. The company later hired a cousin to work the floor and Ken was moved back to the office.
“He and I worked the floor together for a long time, and he always did a fantastic job,” added Cavallaro. “We, and our families, received a huge outpour of support and condolences from people across the country when he died. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.”
Cavallaro was interred at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden, MA.
