Allegiance announces opening and grand re-opening of Foodtown supermarkets
Allegiance Retail Services LLC announced Dec. 1 the grand opening of 10 new Foodtown supermarkets plus the grand re-opening — after a major renovation — of one existing Foodtown store.
On Dec. 4, Allegiance's newest member, Alex Collado, will celebrate the grand opening of three Foodtown supermarkets: two in the Bronx, NY, and one in Manhattan. "We are excited to convert all of our stores to the well-known and trusted Foodtown banner," Collado said in a press release. "By joining Allegiance, we are better positioned to provide a more competitively priced store and an over all better shopping experience to our customers."
In the New York market, five additional stores have opened or grand re-opened by existing Allegiance members. PSK Supermarkets, owned and operated by Noah, Daniel and Sydney Katz, celebrated the opening of three new Super Foodtown stores — one on 145th Street and Bradhurst Avenue in Manhattan, one in Westchester County's Croton-on-Hudson and one in Rocky Point, Long Island — plus the grand re-opening, after extensive renovation, of the Bedford-Stuyvesant Super Foodtown in Brooklyn.
"We are very excited to serve these new and existing communities with the best shopping experience available," Noah Katz said in the release. "The store openings and remodel would not have been possible without the tremendous help and support of the PSK operations team, store associates and the Allegiance Retail Services team. This was truly a group effort."
Additionally, one current Allegiance member celebrated the grand opening of a Foodtown supermarket, also in New York. Allegiance congratulated Angelo Avena and Joseph Paravati on the opening of their brand new Foodtown store on Lakeville Road in Nassau County's New Hyde Park.
In the New Jersey market, three new Foodtown stores have been opened recently by three existing member groups. Jack Shakoor opened a ground-up Foodtown unit in Bloomfield, in Essex County. This unit anchors a multi-use development adjacent to the Bloomfield train station. The Estevez family recently opened a former A&P in Old Tappan, in Bergen County, just south of the New York state line. Also in Bergen County, David Maniaci now operates a Super Foodtown unit in Washington Township. This store was also a former A&P and will undergo a major renovation after the first of the year.
"This has been a banner year for Allegiance Retail Services with record sales and market share, new members, new stores and new associates," John T. Derderian, president and chief operating officer of Allegiance, said in the release. "I am so excited to be part of this intelligent growth and expansion of our diverse supermarket base."
Maniaci, who is chairman and chief executive officer of Allegiance, added in the release, "It is wonderful to welcome 10 new stores and one newly renovated unit to the Allegiance/Foodtown co-op. We are honored by the confidence that existing members and new members place in the expertise of the Allegiance team, and we look forward to their success. We are well positioned and extremely encouraged by the opportunities we see for Allegiance/Foodtown in 2016."
