MountainKing Steakhouse Roasters featured in new Roaster Mania promotion
A new promotion by Texas-based MountainKing is providing retailers the opportunity to showcase the company’s popular Steakhouse Roasters, the slender, thin-skin fresh variety that consistently earns the potato category’s highest average retail price per pound and more dollar ring than traditional potato types.
MountainKing’s Roaster Mania promotion features high-graphic point-of-sale materials, a display contest for store personnel, recipe cards, in-store merchandising support and attractive promotional savings.
Bulk packed fresh to order in 1.5- and five-pound bags, MountainKing Steakhouse Roasters can be shipped in display-ready boxes, high-graphic half-bins or conventional boxes.
Known within the produce industry as fingerlings, MountainKing re-invented the specialty potato with a new name and new packaging to attract younger, more health-conscious consumers, the company said in a press release. Research shows consumers age 20-40 are twice as likely to have the Steakhouse Roasters on hand than any other demographic group.
With no peeling required, the fast-cooking variety can be quartered, drizzled with olive oil and oven baked for 20-25 minutes to cook up into crispy, steakhouse-quality wedge fries ideal with steaks, chops, chicken and burgers.
“While the Steakhouse Roasters continue to grow in popularity, our sense is some retailers haven’t fully taken full advantage of their profit potential,” the company said in the press release. “The Roaster Mania promotion should be a real eye-opener for them.”
MountainKing Potatoes is one of the world’s largest growers of high-flavor potato varieties. It also is among the industry’s largest producers of fingerling-style potatoes.
