Duda Farm Fresh Foods looking forward to strong fall Florida vegetable season
Welcoming in a strong fall vegetable season is a complimentary match to Duda Farm Fresh Foods’ 90th year anniversary in 2016.
Nichole Towell, director of marketing for the Oviedo, FL-based company said it is currently planning a celebration event to mark the occasion, with details to come later.
She noted that supplies of the Duda Farm Fresh’s Florida crops — across all commodity items — are available in promotable quantities this year.
This fall, Duda introduced its new ‘Dandy brand Celery Snack Line.“In Florida we grow and ship celery, organic celery, cello radishes, value-added radishes, Romaine, Romaine hearts, cello lettuce, green leaf, red leaf, endive, escarole and sweet corn,” said Towell.
“All of Duda’s products are grown, packed and shipped at our Belle Glade farm,” Towell added.
She pointed out that run times for Florida-grown produce can vary depending on the weather. For example, celery season is Jan. 2 through April, with typical promotional time period running from mid-January through April 15.
“The sweet corn Florida season is mid-November through May,” added Towell. “Promotional volumes are available in early spring. The lettuce and leaf item season from Florida is mid-December through April, with promotional time running from mid-January through March.”
“Fresh from Florida” is the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ locally grown initiative. All of Duda Farm Fresh Foods’ products are available in packaging with the logo.
Last January, Duda Farm Fresh rolled out its line of Florida-grown Ready to Eat Radishes. This fall it introduced its new “Dandy” brand Celery Snack Line. It includes “Dandy” Ready to Snack Celery Sticks in a 1.6-ounce single serve package; “Dandy” celery and peanut butter packs in two sizes; 2.3 ounce and 4.15 ounce. This item, Towell said, pairs with the company’s “Naturally Sweeter and Crispier” fresh-cut celery with a squeezable peanut butter pouch from “Peanut Butter & Co” and “Crunchables,” a grab and go five-ounce cup that contains celery sticks and three flavors of ranch dip from “Marzetti’s.”
“We also recently introduced ‘Dandy’ ‘Simple Salad in Seconds,’ which is a pack of petite heads of red and green frisee lettuce or red and green butter lettuce,” said Towell. “This variety pack of flavors and textures gives the home cook an easy salad solution. Just three steps to prep: cut, wash and use.”
“‘Dandy’ ‘Simple Salad in Seconds’ combines convenience with a variety of flavors and textures,” she continued. “Ideal for wraps and salads, ‘Simple Salad in Seconds’ has a higher yield than whole-head lettuce, and a longer shelf life than bagged lettuce, which means better value for the home cook.”
