Vision’s Cohen says regional shows allow suppliers to relate closer to customers
There is always a lot of excitement and traction surrounding major national produce trade shows. But a large number of industry professionals agree that regional shows enable them to spend more valuable one-on-one time with those with which they are doing business.
Ronnie Cohen, vice president of sales and a partner at Vision Import Group, headquartered in River Edge, NJ, agreed that regional shows offer an advantage.
“We have exhibited every year at the New York Produce Show since the inception,” said Cohen. “And every year has been a very positive experience for us. Regional shows provide more intimacy than large shows, and they allow us to get closer to our customers.”
Vision Import Group will be exhibiting at booth No. 460 at this year’s show. Cohen noted that the adjusted date of the show — Dec. 1-3 — fits nicely in between the holidays.
“And of course, the location of the New York Produce Show is great,” he added. “The city is beautifully decorated for the holidays and there is an endless list of interesting and exciting things to do there.”
The Vision Cos. are comprised of Vision Import Group and Vision Produce Co. in Los Angeles. Though jointly owned, they are separate companies that share unified national distribution, which enables both to market their brands nationwide.
Both companies market “Van Gogh” mangos, and “Mojito,” “Havana” and “Mr. Squeeze” limes. Vision Produce Co. also sells limes under the “Bonito” and “Logger” brands. Vision Import Group markets products to customers east of the Mississippi River, and Vision Produce Co. handles the western portion of the nation.
“Kiss Mangos” is Vision Import Group’s new brand of Palmer variety mangos that it will initially market on the East Coast.
“We will continue to showcase and promote our value-added limes and lemons at the New York Produce Show,” said Cohen. “And we are always prepared to share our commitment to food safety with customers. We have always been proactive and committed to making sure all of our growers are certified in food safety as well as in the third-party warehouses we use to store and transfer what we handle.”
