For fortunate companies like New York Apple Sales, headquartered in Castleton, NY, the New York Produce Show and Conference is very accessible by train.
“We are lucky this way,” said Kaari Stannard, company president. “The show provides us with an excellent opportunity to meet up with retail chains and wholesalers. In addition, the breakout sessions are very informative and beneficial to attend.”
The company has exhibited at the New York Produce Show since its inception in 2010. This year it will be at booth No. 563.
Stannard said the company will be showcasing its Honeycrisp and “KORU” Plumac c.v. apples at the show.
John Cushing, vice president of sales and Michael Harwood, sales associate for New York Apple Sales.“On Honeycrisp apples, we will be highlighting our own New York grown product, and also our partnership with Scotian Gold Cooperative in Nova Scotia, where premium Honeycrisp apples are gown,” she pointed out.
Scotian Gold Cooperative, headquartered in Coldbrook, Nova Scotia, stores and packs 50 percent of the apple production in Nova Scotia. Through its 55 growers, the producer-owned apple cooperative has over 2,500 acres of apple production across the fertile Annapolis Valley.
“We are the exclusive sales agent for Scotian Gold Cooperative in the U.S.,” said Stannard. “Our partnership with Honeycrisp, New Zealand, will begin importing in April 2016.”
New York Apple Sales will also be showcasing its exciting and new proprietary “KORU” brand Plumac c.v. apples at the New York Produce Show and Conference.
“This year we harvested our first two trailer loads of ‘KORU’ plumac c.v. on our Fish Creek Orchards site,” said Stannard. “We will have samples of both at the show.”
New York Apple Sales is the largest, most geographically diverse sales agency in New York, partnering with the finest growers and packing facilities in all major growing regions of the state. This diversity means it can deliver the best selection, competitive pricing, and superior fruit all year long.
“There is, unfortunately in this business, never a good time to travel for a trade show,” noted Stannard. “But the New York Produce Show is outstanding in the benefits it offers, and well worth the time and effort.”
