Mann’s Culinary Cuts wins 2015 PMA Impact Award: Excellence in Packaging
Mann Packing’s new product, Culinary Cuts, received one of five 2015 PMA Impact Awards for Excellence in Packaging at the PMA Fresh Summit in Atlanta, Oct. 23-25.
The awards recognize companies with exceptional produce packaging that demonstrates “out-of-the-box-thinking” and makes an impact with consumers.
Mann’s Culinary Cuts are a line of fresh-cut vegetables cut into distinctive shapes including Sweet Potato RIBBONS and Butternut Squash ZIG ZAGS. The vegetables are washed, ready to cook, and versatile enough for multiple uses such as side dishes, stir-frys, soups and casseroles.
Each package contains four to five, one-cup servings and can be prepared in four minutes or less in the microwave, sautéed, steamed or on the stovetop. Detailed cooking instructions are included in each package as well as three recipes and usage ideas. The line is also gluten free and an ideal fresh pasta swap.
The product line was two years in development involving extensive consumer research, test markets, professional recipe development and online research.
The PMA Impact Award: Excellence in Packaging recognizes and encourages excellence in fresh produce packaging. PMA received more than 71 entries from 57 companies that were narrowed down to 20 finalists and submitted to a panel of judges who selected the five winners based on the following attributes: marketing, sustainability, food safety, and convenience and supply chain efficiency/functionality.
