Kennicott Twin Cities hosts holiday design show
MINNEAPOLIS — Kennicott Bros. Co. hosted its 2015 Dine & Design Holiday Show Sept. 23, here, and show designer Walter Fedyshyn, floral designer at Kehoe Designs in Chicago, revealed his holiday design tips and the latest in seasonal floral arrangements.
Maureen McKiernan, Kennicott Twin Cities store manager, told The Produce News there were between 100 and 120 customers in attendance throughout the night.
Red Kennicott, president at Kennicott Bros. Co., and Maureen McKiernan, manager at the Kennicott Twin Cities branch.“We were surprised to see some of the people that showed up,” said McKiernan. “We saw a number of people that don’t usually come to shows. They came and they stayed all night and engaged — obviously they weren’t just making an appearance.”
Red Kennicott, chief executive officer of the company, flew in from Chicago for the event and he enjoyed meeting and talking with the customers and the staff.
The show’s featured designer has over 40 years of experience in the floral industry and has designed for two Presidential Inaugurations, FTD National Conventions and the Academy Awards. His floral designs have been published in design books and national trade magazines, including Flowers & and Florists Review.
Attendees learned about the newest holiday trends, enjoyed fine dining, networked with industry professionals and took advantage of product specials.
“The customers were engaged through the whole show and as soon as it ended, they pounced on all the arrangements that were made and ran to the supply department to buy what they saw being used,” McKiernan said. “It was a really good show for us. We had a lot of good compliments both that night and afterwards as well.”
