We made it this far but ‘it ain’t over till it’s over’
We’ve made it through several fall shows and a couple of holidays — PMA Fresh Summit; the WF&FSA Floral Distribution Conference; ProFlora; Dia de los Muertos and Halloween — and now October is in the history books. However, in remembrance of baseball great Yogi Berra, who died Sept. 22, we all know that “it ain’t over till it’s over.” November in the floral industry is merely the gateway to the upcoming holidays and pre-planning is essential for your holiday success.
One of the biggest floral holidays of the year arrives in February, so in this edition a group of industry professionals offer their planning insights and strategies to help make your Valentine’s Day run smoothly and profitably. Kathy Hession offers a timeline on mapping out a productive holiday, while other experts give helpful reminders and tips to get you into a Valentine’s state-of-mind.
In addition, fall is design show time for wholesalers so we recap two local holiday and seasonal shows hosted by Midwestern wholesale florists. We also have an enlightening interview with Robert Kitayama, who was recently named the new president of Greenleaf Wholesale Florist.
In the next Floral Marketing section, we will provide on-the-scene coverage of the PMA Fresh Summit, guest writers will detail their experiences at the WF&FSA Floral Distribution Conference and Colombia’s ProFlora, and we’ll continue to prepare you for the intensity of Valentine’s Day.
I wish you all a very happy and blessed Thanksgiving and I’ll see you next month.
