Del Campo invests in solar energy

Del Campo’s 120,000-square-foot warehouse facility in Nogales, AZ, is being retrofitted with new solar roof panels and a new solar covered parking structure. The new solar panels will provide over 50 percent of the energy the warehouse uses for cooling and daily operations.
“As a company it is important that we continue to invest in our facilities not only to keep up with the latest technology but to do our best to contribute to the environment. Converting some of our energy to solar power will help us stay competitive and continue servicing our customers’ needs,” Diego Ley, general manager of Del Campo Supreme, said in a press release.
The estimated coal saved will be 559, 232 pounds and the estimated CO2 reduction will be 1.1 million pounds. The project will also save an estimated 419,424 gallons of water.
Del Campo y Asociados is also currently looking into solar energy for its ranches in Sinaloa and in Jalisco. “We have analyzed the benefits and investment to adding solar energy at our ranches and currently working on a plan to build solar farms that will provide the majority of our power,” Juan Jose Ley, general manager of Del Campo y Asociados, said in the release.
