Spooky food displays create Halloween sales opportunities
Frieda’s Inc., based in Los Alamitos, CA, is encouraging retailers to draw shoppers away from the candy aisle and into the produce department for Halloween-themed displays that are sure to increase fruit and vegetable sales.
Shoppers look for creative ideas to add fresh, healthy items to their Halloween festivities, and the possibilities with specialty produce are endless, according to Frieda’s.
Create a “Spooky Food” destination with alien-looking kiwano, Buddha’s Hand citron, dragon fruit, rambutan, organic finger limes, and the monstrous jackfruit.
Build a vampire-themed shelf with blood oranges and red cactus pears. Merchandise non-traditional colorful vegetables such as Stokes purple sweet potatoes, purple sno peas, colored cauliflower and black garlic for a ghoulish display.
Other popular, less scary Halloween items include Green Dragon apples, fresh and dried ghost peppers, mini pumpkins and hard squashes.
Interested retailers, wholesalers and foodservice distributors can contact Frieda’s to trick-or-treat for product information and high resolution images to assist with any marketing needs.
