RIO RICO, AZ — Matt Mandel has been promoted to chief operating officer of SunFed Produce LLC. He previously served as vice president of sales and marketing for the family-owned firm.
Mandel said his new role will focus on SunFed’s day-to-day operations. That emphasis is maintaining a consistency in corporate performance so the company will continue to thrive as it has.
Mandel is also chairman of the Fresh Produce Association of the Americas, based in nearby Nogales. And he is on the board of Alianza Hortofrutícola Internacional para el Fomento de la Responsabilidad Social, which is a Mexican produce organization focused on improving social responsibility within Mexico.
Mandel’s father, Danny Mandel, is SunFed’s president and chief executive officer.
Frank Camera will remain the firm’s sales manager, “but he will have increased responsibilities and duties,” Matt Mandel said. Meanwhile, Brett Burdsal will remain director of marketing but will also be taking on increased independence and responsibilities.
Mark Cassius is the firm’s chief innovation officer, and “he will continue to do all of the wonderful things he does,” Matt Mandel added.
“We have a lot of smart people, and my job is to let them do their jobs and get me the hell out of the way,” he said.
