PermaTherm premium insulated panels star in an impressive experiment
MONTICELLO, GA — On a Friday morning in September, workers at PermaTherm’s manufacturing facility, here, bustled about setting up ramps in the parking lot for a demonstration of the strength of its premium insulated refrigeration panels as a pair of reporters from The Produce News looked on. A two-ton jet black Ford F-150 pickup truck sat ominously nearby.
First the workers assembled a pair of panels from a competitor, eight-inches thick and two dozen feet long, and set them on an incline.
Yes, that’s one big pickup truck – and it’s parked atop a pair of PermaTherm’s unique insulated metal panels. (Photo courtesy of PermaTherm)The driver fired up the truck and inched forward. After a couple of feet, the panels began to groan. Another couple of feet and they buckled and snapped with a horrible crack.
The experiment was repeated with a pair of PermaTherm eight-inch panels. The panels were assembled normally, with no extra support of any kind. The truck moved forward. A foot or two at a time it climbed the panels until its full weight sat unsupported atop. There was not so much as a scratch on either PermaTherm panel, save for a lone black tire mark.
“There is no stronger panel on the market,” said PermaTherm President Keith DeVore. “But we also offer the lowest cost and best value — our panels will not lose R value over time. The R you buy today is the R you have forever.”
For almost three decades Atlanta-based PermaTherm has provided not only premium insulated panels but a full range of cooling-related services while also clients dollars.
“We’re known for our panels, but we provide more than that — we offer 30 years’ experience across all things food to deliver our clients complete solutions for refrigerated or processing area needs,” said DeVore.
Expanding a cooler; converting a warehouse to ambient, production, refrigerated or freezer space; upgrading processing areas, suspended ceilings or completely new greenfield projects are all major endeavors — and challenges that PermaTherm handles every day. PermaTherm panels are a prime part of any project and boast the highest standards in the industry, with thicknesses ranging from two inches to a foot and the highest R values in the industry — from R 8 to R 60.
“We have solutions,” DeVore said. “It all starts with a consultation. We can provide partner companies for installation, design build, refrigeration and site work. At the end of the day, we’re interested in helping offering customers a complete, custom expansion solution at the most affordable price.”
