Procacci Bros. promotes Carlos Rodriguez to tropical produce sales team
Procacci Bros. Sales Corp. has promoted Carlos Rodriquez to a director of sales position in its tropical produce department.
Rodriguez first joined Procacci Bros. in the spring of 2012 as a cooperative education student through Saint Joseph’s University’s food marketing program. During his time as a co-op, Rodriguez demonstrated exemplary performance in various production, customer service, sales and management roles.

George Binck, executive vice president of Procacci Bros., was particularly impressed by how quickly Rodriguez developed an expertise in quality control and production management while working in Procacci Bros.’ specialty department. “We already knew that Carlos was a special co-op student and that we wanted to bring him back full-time,” Binck said in a press release. “Carlos was excelling in our specialty department, so we decided to challenge him by putting him in charge of managing production for the whole department. From day one, Carlos seized the opportunity and did a fantastic job.”
Rodriguez was hired by Procacci Bros. as a full-time employee in September of 2014. For his first assignment, he spent several months in Procacci’s ripening department, where he oversaw quality control and inventory management for bananas and yellow plantains. During this time, Rodriguez worked under the expert guidance of Mike Barber, Procacci’s long-time director of banana sales. His next assignment was as a manager at Procacci Bros.’ store in the fast-paced environment of the Philadelphia Wholesale Produce Market.
During his time at the PWPM, Rodriguez gained valuable experience that strengthened his skills in sales, customer service, procurement, receiving and transportation. His strong communication skills and fluency in both English and Spanish enabled him to quickly develop strong relationships with many customers at the PWPM.
“We’re thrilled to have Carlos on board as a member of our sales team,” Mike Maxwell, Procacci Bros. president, said in the press release. “It’s going to be very exciting to watch him flourish in this new role. Our customers will soon come to know that they can trust and depend on Carlos. He’s a very sharp guy with a great work ethic.”
