Several key Westmoreland Farms’ staff members are looking forward to attending and exhibiting at the New England Produce Council 2015 Produce and Floral Expo being held at the famous Chatham Bars Inn on Cape Cod Sept. 16-18.
“This year, Tony Cappelli, account manager, Ken Green, president, and Dino DiLaudo, sales manager will be in attendance at the event,” said Jimmy Coppola, director of marketing for the Leamington, Ontario-based greenhouse grower. “This year we will showcase some of our new environmentally friendly packaging, including new flow wrapped trays for our Gourmet Browns’ tomatoes, our Gourmet Heirloom tomatoes and our multicolor tomatoes on the vine. We will also be showcasing our new bags for our Gourmet Roma tomatoes.”
He noted that the new packaging is 100 percent recyclable.
The entire Westmoreland Farms “TopLine” specialty produce line will also be showcased at the event, such as its Gourmet Medley tomatoes, sweet grape tomatoes and more. Coppola said the company has attended the NEPC expo for many years, “And it’s an event we will continue to attend to showcase our offerings,” he said. “It also gives us the opportunity to have some face time with our current customers and to meet new ones and to create new opportunities.”
Westmoreland Farms is proud to announce that it was recently Non-GMO Project certified.
The Project is a non-profit organization committed to preserving and building sources of non-GMO products, educating consumers and providing verified non-GMO choices.
“Also, with much consideration for our customers and to help reduce food miles and increased costs associated with freight, our FOB program out of our warehouse in McAllen, TX, is in full swing,” explained Coppola.
“Our customers now have the ability to load direct from the grower out of our McAllen warehouse, which will help them stay competitive. We invited everyone to inquire with us about our FOB program.”
