Texas Citrus Mutual names new president
Texas Citrus Mutual has appointed Dale Murden as its new president. In October 2014 Murden joined the Texas Citrus Pest & Disease Corp. as the executive director and in December 2014, when Ray Prewett, longtime president, retired, Murden was asked to stand in as interim president of Texas Citrus Mutual.
“Texas Citrus Mutual has a longstanding history of serving this industry and we feel confident that Dale is the best person to lead us into this challenging time,” Fred Karle, chairman of the Texas Citrus Mutual board of directors, said in a press release.
Prior to joining TCM, Murden was the president and chief executive officer of Rio Farms Inc. for 15 years. He has been in the Texas citrus industry since graduating high school in 1980, where he started out as an IPM scout for Texas A&M University. Murden is also a citrus grower, which is dear to his heart.
“This is an industry of good people who have survived so many setbacks, yet always remain optimistic," Murden said in the release. "We are now facing a new challenge with citrus greening disease, and I will work alongside lifelong friends and colleagues in the hopes of saving this great industry.”
