Giumarra increased stone fruit and citrus volumes with joint venture
Giumarra Cos., based in Los Angeles, announced a new sales and marketing agreement representing Kingsburg, CA-based Wildwood Packing & Cooling and its growers. Giumarra will market Wildwood’s volume of California stone fruit and citrus.
The exclusive agreement will commence in the fall, beginning with Wildwood’s citrus offering. Following in spring 2016, Wildwood’s volume of California stone fruit will round out the program.
Jeannine Martin“Wildwood’s diversity of commodities perfectly fits our vision and strategic plan of growth,” Jeannine Martin, director of sales for Giumarra Reedley, said in a press release. “The Giumarra and Wildwood families both represent longstanding family roots in the produce industry, and our mutual desire to continue that tradition led to this agreement.”
The combined volume of both companies will strengthen a well-balanced supply of stone fruit, including peaches, nectarines, white peaches, white nectarines, donut peaches, donut nectarines, plums, Pluots, and apricots. Additionally, Wildwood’s year-round citrus program offers a full line of traditional Navels, Valencias, lemons and grapefruit, as well as several EZ Peel varieties.
“Citrus will be an exciting new category of growth for Giumarra Reedley and will complement the Giumarra Companies’ current citrus line,” Martin added in the press release.
The partnership with Wildwood brings strength to Giumarra’s Nature’s Partner DulceVida proprietary line of stone fruit. Wildwood will considerably increase the volume of Nature’s Partner DulceVida fruit in the market with development of these proprietary varieties on its ranches. The DulceVida program made its first commercial launch in spring 2015.
