Faye Clack Communications helps raise over $20K for breast cancer research
Paint it Pink, the fundraising team from Faye Clack Communications Inc., a niche agency that specializes in strategic communications for the food industry, recently announced its successful completion of the 60-kilometer walk in the Toronto Weekend to End Breast Cancer benefiting Princess Margaret Hospital.
The journey was a personal one for Paint it Pink, with each of the team members being affected by breast cancer in some way -- family, friends or colleagues. From February through September, the team trained and raised funds through personal pledges, garage sales, a major fundraising event and a silent auction. Thanks to the efforts of all FCC staff and supporters, the team reached its financial goal and raised a remarkable $20,500 for the cause.
The Paint it Pink team gathered at Exhibition Place along with 5,300 other walkers. Nine hours and 35 kilometers later, team members arrived at a tent city erected at Downsview Park, where they were greeted by a hot meal, cold showers and live entertainment. By the next morning, the team was off again, walking back from Downsview Park along the west end of the city to Exhibition Place.
The team finished its journey at the Direct Energy Centre with a powerful and moving closing ceremony.
"The team really came together," said Cara Epp, the team's leader. "Those who didn't walk worked tirelessly to raise funds so that those who were able to walk could participate. It's a cause close to all our hearts and we went in knowing our positive spirit was going to carry us across the finish line."
The yearly Weekend to End Breast Cancer benefits breast cancer treatment, research, and education at Princess Margaret Hospital, an international leader in the fight against cancer and the largest institution in Canada devoted to cancer treatment, innovative research and education programs.
