Long-time president of T. Marzetti Co. dies
Larry G. Noble, former president of the T. Marzetti Co., best known as a marketer of a wide variety of salad dressings and sauces, died Sept. 28 at age 70. He was a resident of Dublin, OH.
Mr. Noble started his long-standing career in the food industry in 1958 with the Campbell Soup Co. In 1962, he joined T. Marzetti as a salesman and became president in 1974. He remained president until his retirement in 2003. In 1985, he was promoted to vice president of Lancaster Colony Corp., parent company of T. Marzetti.
During his time as president of T. Marzetti, Mr. Noble oversaw acquisitions of 14 food companies, growing sales to over $600 million. His passion for new products resulted in the creation of three product categories in which Marzetti brands remain leaders.
A graduate of Ohio State University, Mr. Noble was active in many professional organizations throughout the years, serving as chairman of the board of the Association for Dressings & Sauces and the Central Ohio Breathing Association. He was a member of the Law Enforcement Foundation and the Ohio State Center for Excellence in Manufacturing Management. He was also a member of the Columbus Manufacturers Association, the Columbus Sales Executive Club and the Ohio Manufacturers Association. Mr. Noble was the recipient of Association of Dressings & Sauces' Lifetime Achievement Award for his many contributions to the growth of the industry and association.
Mr. Noble is survived by his wife, Sandra Noble; children Steve and Jan Noble of Dublin, Jeff Noble of Worthington, Kathy and Terry Mathews of Dublin; and seven grandchildren.
