Mexican grape deal coming to an early end
Mexican grape deal coming to an early end
Except for Red Globes, the Mexican grape deal will finish by the end of June, according to Jerry Havel, director of sales and marketing for Fresh Farms, based in Rio Rico, AZ.
“The California grape deal is a little early and we are finishing a little early, so the timing is about perfect,” Havel said June 16. “The deal was good for us, the market was good and the quality was good.” Because of some weather challenges, “we were short on a few varieties, but it was a good season. We don’t have much in inventory. We saw a nice, even flow to the season and it will end the same way.”
Facing the end of the grape deal, Havel said the Fresh Farms will regroup, visit growers and take some time off. “We will reboot for next season.”
