Vision Import Group happy to spread its wings in new, larger location
Vision Import Group recently moved its New Jersey office from River Edge to Hackensack. Ronnie Cohen, vice president of sales and a partner in the company, said during the eight years in its previous location the company grew in personnel and needed additional space.
“And we have plans for the near future to increase our sales and add new categories to our existing lineup,” said Cohen. “Our new office space is double the size, and will allow us to make the additions comfortably.”
The Vision Cos. is comprised of both Vision Import Group and Vision Produce Co., which is headquartered in Los Angeles. Both companies market the “Van Gogh” brand mangos, as well as “Mojito,” “Havana” and “Mr. Squeeze” lime labels. Vision Produce Co. also distributes limes under the “Bonito,” “Logger” and “Tropic Star” brands in the western United States.
The firm is a leading grower, importer and marketer of tropical, Hispanic and conventional produce. Vision Import Group markets to the eastern United States, while Vision Produce Co. markets in the western part of the nation.
Cohen said the company is currently receiving good supplies of Guatemalan mangos into Miami and into the Northeast.
“This program peaks for the month of May, and then volumes will drop quickly as the end of the season wraps up,” he said.
“Our program of mangos from Mexico, which began in February, is going well. Growers there are transitioning to other growing areas now, and there looks to be a steady and ample supply for the balance of the season with little or no gaps.”
Cohen added that the weather in Mexico has been reasonable and the crops’ fruit set looks good.
“This is unlike last year when we had an alternate bearing season in Mexico,” he added. “This year is more normal. “
The Vision Cos. have expanded its exposure at its Nogales, AZ, operation by adding a grower-direct cucumber deal that packs in its “La Visión” label.
“This item is available now and will run through mid-June,” said Donald Souther, vice president of marketing and sales development for the Vision Cos.
“In addition to Vision Produce’s chili pepper labels, ‘California Chile Co.’ and ‘Rodriguera Farms,’ we plan to continue or marketing program of the ‘La Visión’ brand of honeydew melons in May,” added Souther.
