Delta completes upgrade to cherry packingline
Delta Packing, based in Lodi, CA, announced the completion of its new cherry packingline just in time for the 2015 season.
The redesign and installation started just after the 2014 season ended and includes the latest in sorting and packing machinery. Delta utilized the expertise of Van Doren Sales Inc., headquartered in Wenatchee WA, which has a reputation for designing and manufacturing the highest quality machinery in cherry packinglines to construct and install the new line.
Included in the installation of the new packingline is a 32-lane Compac optical sorter, which operates a patented camera technology that provides a complete sorting solution for color, diameter and blemishes for cherries.
“The way the industry has been moving, technology is providing a way to sort and pack cherries more efficiently, which enables us to pack a better product,” Paul Poutre, general manager of Delta Packing, said in a press release. “Our goal as a company has always been to provide the best service and quality to our growers and our customers. With the advancements in sorting technologies over the last few years, we will be able to meet and exceed these goals as a company.”
“Central to Delta Packing’s mission is the genuine commitment to quality, service and the ability to meet every demand our customers require,” Berton Costamagna, vice president for Delta Packing, added in the press release. “With the improvements we are making to the line, we will be able to stay competitive on all aspects of the industry.”
