The great success of Duda’s Ready-to-Eat radish line
Duda Farm Fresh Foods Inc., headquartered in Oviedo, FL, is reporting that all of the company’s Florida spring crops are on schedule with no notable weather events.
Jason Bedsole, eastern sales manager for Duda, said, “We are shipping celery, organic celery, cello radishes, value-added radishes, Romaine, Romaine hearts, cello lettuce, green leaf, red leaf, endive and escarole. All products are grown, packed and shipping out of the Belle Glade Farm in Florida.”
Duda Farm Fresh Foods, Bedsole pointed out, has a new Ready-to-Eat radish product line that started packing in Florida in January.
“We saw an opportunity to innovate in the radish category by offering new forms with compelling product benefits,” said Bedsole. “After exploring billions of potential combinations for new radish products we chose the top three as items that consumers would purchase with the most amount of frequency. We built our program around ‘Ready Radishes,’ which are cut, trimmed and ready to eat, along with ‘Radish Coins’ and ‘Radish MiniSticks.’ Our research shows these products will entice the radish lover and the younger non-radish user who may be discouraged from using the item due to prep and unfamiliarity.”
In addition to the Ready-to-Eat radish line, Duda is looking forward to a strong spring season with good supplies in promotable quantities across the board along with other commodity items.
“For example, celery season in Florida runs from January 2 through April, with promotional time in mid-January through April 15,” noted Bedsole. “The sweet corn Florida season is November 15 through May. Promotional volumes are available mid-March through May. The lettuce and leaf item Florida season is mid-December through April, with promotional time being from mid-January through March.”
He added that Florida’s growing conditions this season have been favorable and products are of good quality and appearance.
“Duda is all about innovation and being ahead of culinary trends,” Bedsole pointed out. “Our Ready-to-Eat Radishes, for example, are reinventing the radish category with new cuts and compelling product benefits.”
