Women’s Day flowers at Miami Airport
Women’s Day flowers at Miami Airport
If you’re a woman and you’re traveling through Miami International Airport on Friday, March 6, you’re likely to receive a free flower, according to a news release. The Miami-Dade Aviation Department is partnering with the flower importers who are a part of Globally Grown to hand out more than 20,000 fresh flowers to women throughout the airport in celebration of International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month.
MDAD customer service staff and volunteers from the Association of Floral Importers of Florida will greet women at the airport with a flower and a postcard with information about the global day of recognition. The postcards also feature the theme “International Flights and Flowers” and highlight the importance of the relationship that Miami International Airport has developed with the flower industry — flowers are the No. 1 cargo import at MIA and the airport is also the gateway for 91 percent of all flower imports to the United States.
AFIF, a Globally Grown partner, will be providing the fresh flowers for the giveaway.
To celebrate International Women’s Day, event organizers are also offering the following strategies:
- Using the hashtag #MIAflowers, participants and employees can post and tweet information, pictures and express their feelings about the event in real-time.
- Passengers can take pictures inside a commemorative selfie frame at locations around the airport as a memento and to honor the special women in their lives.
- Selfie picture boards will be placed throughout the airport for people to share their pictures and join Miami International Airport and the flower industry in celebrating International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month.
