Sakata touts diverse offerings of heart-healthy broccoli
As a continued supporter of the American Heart Association, Sakata is doing its part to promote a heart-healthy America.
"Sakata is proud to breed quality genetics for a laundry list of healthy fruits and vegetables, but there is one cardiovascular superfood for which they are most recognized: broccoli," the company said in a press release.
Sakata's Centennial variety of broccoli. "Broccoli is known for its anti-inflammatory and detoxifying properties, which benefit more than just the heart; in fact, studies show that broccoli consumption can lead to better vision, healthier skin, reduced cholesterol, stronger immune system and improved digestion. Better yet, broccoli delivers a powerhouse of nutrients, while remaining low in sodium and calories."
The company has 20 different broccoli varieties available for growers to choose from, bred for ease of harvest and climate adaptability. Some prime examples of Sakata's offerings include Centennial, a multi-use variety bred for cool coastal growing regions, and Marathon, a popular variety with outstanding yields from California to Central America.
In addition, Sakata offers tools to assist growers in the process of choosing, growing and harvesting its broccoli: its Eastern Broccoli Bulletin; Broccoli Harvesting Schedules; and its Broccoli Master guide.
