World Floral Expo attendance figures projected to triple over last year’s show
HPP Exhibitions, the Netherlands-based organizers of World Floral Expo 2015, are anticipating many more buyers, including bigger mass-market buyers, to attend the international flower trade show slated for March 11-13 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, compared to last year’s successful fair in Chicago. All segments of the buyers’ chain, from importers to retail florists, are expected to attend and the number of pre-registered buyers is higher than ever, while traditionally most registrations take place after Valentine’s Day, according to a news release.
“This show will also be much more of a grower show than ever before, due to the participation of California growers,” Jasper van Dijk, marketing manager at HPP Exhibitions, said. “Members of the California Association of Flower Growers and Shippers, the California Cut Flower Commission and the San Diego Flowers and Plants Association will be exhibiting, so California companies will be exhibiting in relatively large numbers.”
Suppliers from other sectors of the flower chain, including hardgoods, technology, shippers and plant growers will also be showing their wares.
“We are projecting a total of 140-150 national and international participating companies,” said van Dijk.
Michael LoBue, chief executive officer at CalFlowers in Capitola, CA, will open the show and a large area in the 60,000-square-foot exhibit hall has been set apart and allocated especially for U.S. floral companies, including a specific California Pavilion.
“I am glad that we had the chance to team up with CalFlowers,” van Dijk said. “There’s a sense of enthusiasm and excitement that California is getting its own international flower trade fair.”
