International Vine conference convenes in Hermosillo
HERMOSILLO, SONORA — With the leadership of Mexico’s table grape industry believing in the need for growers to be connected with the world’s most advanced technicians, the industry has presented national growers with a technical production seminar.
For the second time, starting in 2013, Asociación Agricola Local de Productores Uva de Mesa Frutas y Hortalizas, based here, presented the Feb. 5-6 conference at a modern, Tuscany-style convention center in Hermosillo.
The seventeen speakers hailed from Chile, Spain, Mexico, Australia, South Africa, Cuba, Brazil, Italy and the United States.
The prelude to the Vine Symposium was a Feb. 4 tour for 17 special guests and speakers of Grupo Alta plantations to the north of Hermosillo.
Laborin noted that AALPUM will host its annual Sonora Spring Grape marketing conference in its hometown of Hermosillo on April 23 and 24.
While the February meeting was focused on very technical production aspects, the April meeting will address Sonora grape marketing topics.
