Lisa offering strong spring veg line
NOGALES, AZ — The spring product offering of Lisa Inc., is highlighted by pickling cucumbers, Roma tomatoes, tomatillos and jalapeno and pasilla (poblano) peppers, according to John Lichter, Lisa’s sales manager.
“The weather has been good and the volume the same,” Lichter said.
Lisa’s vegetable deal runs from October to May. “We consolidate, mix loads and ship,” he added.
Lichter has worked for the firm for 26 years. In Culiacan, Sinaloa, in 1978, John Lichter’s uncle, Jose Lichter, and John’s father, Juan Lichter started Lisa Inc. Now, Lisa is owned by Jose Lichter’s son, Jose Abraham Lichter Acosta.
“All of my cousins are in Culiacan,” he said. “They are growers.”
Lichter’s grandfather emigrated from Poland to Mexico in the early 1900s. There, he married Esperansa Salida. Her last names became Lichter Salido — leading to the “Lisa” acronym.
Lichter said Lisa’s products meet all Primus food-safety standards and the vegetable line is produce traceability compatible.
