R.C.F.’s citrus expansion going well
RIO RICO, AZ — A heightened focus on shipping Mexican citrus continues for R.C.F. Produce. Inc., based here. The firm has slowly built its Mexican citrus volume over the last two shipping seasons. The citrus is shipped under the “R.C.F.” brand.
Malu Crespo, president and general manager, said, “We have increased our citrus a lot. All of our citrus is grown in Sonora. The citrus season is going very well. It’s a little tight now (in January), with more demand. That is good for the growers and us, too.”
R.C.F. will be marketing oranges, grapefruit and Murcotts through the season. The company also ships Persian limes through McAllen.
R.C.F.’s expanded lemon deal ran from August through October. The firm’s high-volume Mexican grapefruit deal extends from November until June, Crespo said.
R.C.F. is shipping Mexico’s “Arizona Sweet” orange variety from November through March. Valencia orange imports and distribution start in January and run through July.
The firm’s Mexican tangerine and Minneola deals lasts from December through February.
Persian limes from R.C.F. are available from November through July. Cara Cara oranges were available from November through January.
R.C.F. is a big player in the Mexican mango business and its mango volume will be larger this year than a year ago. For R.C.F., the Mexican mango deal runs from February through September. This starts in Chiapas, Oaxaca, Michoacán, and Guerrero, and then is followed by Jalisco, Nayarit and finally finishes in Sinaloa.
Mangos and citrus are the largest-volume commodities shipped by R.C.F.
R.C.F. is also a shipper of cucumbers, chili peppers and other vegetables from Sinaloa.
