Vision Cos. expands exposure in Nogales with move to larger warehouse
“The Vision Cos. have expanded its exposure in Nogales this season by moving into a larger warehouse to accommodate our increasing grower direct deals,” said Donald Souther, vice president of marketing and sales development for the Vision Cos.
The Vision Cos. is comprised of both Vision Import Group, headquartered in Hackensack, NJ, and Vision Produce Co., headquartered in Los Angeles, CA. Both companies market the “Van Gogh” brand mangos, as well as “Mojito,” “Havana” and “Mr. Squeeze” lime labels. Vision Produce Co. also distributes limes under the “Bonito,” “Logger” and “Tropic Star” brands in the western United States.
The firm is a leading grower, importer and marketer of tropical, Hispanic and conventional produce. Vision Import Group markets to the eastern United States, while Vision Produce Co. markets in the western part of the nation.
In addition to the company’s chili pepper labels, “California Chile Co.” and “Rodriguera Farms,” in May, Vision Produce Co. will continue its marketing program of the “La Visión” brand of honeydew melons. It will also introduce its cucumber program beginning in mid-April.
“Lance Nichols recently joined our team in our Phoenix office, and is now our category manager for all offshore and Mexico honeydew programs,” noted Souther. “Sam Aguiar has been promoted to oversee our chili pepper program in Nogales.”
Vision Produce Co.’s Los Angeles facility is food-safety audited by Primus Labs. The Vision Produce Cos. are continually active in advancing important food-safety programs with all of its growers through Global Gap and related food-safety certifications.
“We are proud of reaching our goal to create a vertical integration of our core product line,” said Souther.
“This enables us to price competitively, provide better quality control and improve our logistics services,” he continued. “We constantly upgrade these programs and consistently work to resolve cross-border issues. Our brand names have planted us firmly at the source, thereby enhancing our ability to improve and control our supply.”
He added that Vision Cos. has positioned itself in a way that enables it to look to the future and towards continued success.
“We continue to strive diligently to give our customers the best and freshest produce that farming has to offer,” said Souther.
