IFPA staff move as merger becomes final
WASHINGTON -- Most of the International Fresh-Cut Produce Association staff has moved into the United Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Association headquarters, here, as the two groups wrap up the final legal details for the merger, according to IFPA President Jerry Welcome.
"This move marks a milestone in the process of our merger with the United Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Association as we join forces to form the new United Fresh Produce Association," said Mr. Welcome.
"Both IFPA and UFFVA will continue to deliver value to each of our members until the formal merger later this summer, but we are pleased to be sharing the same office space and working together closely on future plans," he said in a note to IFPA members.
IFPA staff members David Gombas, Mary Wallace Teague and Hector Ranero joined Mr. Welcome at United's headquarters this month. IFPA staff member Reta Jones will stay at the Alexandria, VA, headquarters until all the details become final.
The groups are working to wrap up the merger before the Washington Public Policy Conference next month where the newly formed United Fresh Produce Association will hold a celebration banquet Sept. 12 and announce future plans.
